The theme at our library story time yesterday was "Frogs, Toads and Salamanders Oh My!". A naturalist from the Dallas County Conservation department presented the lesson using stories, songs and a fun craft activity. She even had a real salamander for the children to see and touch. Kinsie did not think much of the salamander, but Caden loved touching its sticky, slimy tail!

Coloring Easter Eggs
This past Sunday morning we had some fun coloring eggs for Easter. Caden and Kinsie thought it was fun to choose their own colors and were very attentive of their eggs! They had to check them to make sure they were just the right color before they would take them out to dry! Caden also thought it was fun to experiment with dipping the eggs in several different colors to see what the final look would be!

A Trip to the Bass Pro Shop
Yesterday we took a trip to the new Bass Pro Shop in Altoona. We thought it would be a fun outing for the kids to check out all of the boats, atvs, animals and the aquarium. Once we got there we discovered that it was the store's "Next Generation" weekend, which meant that they were holding children's activities all day. It was great timing for us and the kids had such a good time!
20 Weeks...One-Half Way There!
This past week marked our 20th week of pregnancy! We had an ultrasound and check-up on Thursday and everything went great! Cass, Caden, Kinsie and I all had the opportunity to see our little one on the tv screen and to identify all of his or her body parts. Caden was very interested in all of the pictures and asked a lot of questions while Kinsie enjoyed checking out all of the cool things in the ultrasound room! We were also able to listen to the heartbeat, which was 140 beats per minute, and see the waves documented on the monitor. We were so happy to see that our little one is absolutely perfect!
These are a few of the photos of our little one! The first one is a perfect profile view...so amazing! Throughout the ultrasound the baby's feet were crossed at the ankles and its hands were resting under his or her chin. The second picture is a great view of the left hand and the third picture is a view of the feet from the bottom. We do not have any full body pictures as we are waiting until our little one arrives to find out if it's a boy or a girl. We are very excited for the surprise!

Jason Aldean Concert
Caden is such a little country guy and loves country music, especially the musician Jason Aldean. So when we found out that he would be holding a concert in Ames we knew that we had to purchase tickets and treat Caden to a night of country music...he loved it! It was so cute to see how excited he was and to see the recognition on his face when a song that he really liked was starting to be performed. Kinsie had fun too, dancing to the music and singing along to the songs that she knew!
