4th of July Weekend

We had a great 4th of July weekend!

Saturday evening we went to the Prairie Meadows Racetrack to watch the horse races and the fireworks display. The kids loved watching the horses and the fireworks were awesome!

Our neighborhood holds a children's parade each 4th of July. Despite the rainy weather, the kids were still able to make the loop around the block on their decorated four wheeler.

Following the parade, we had a BBQ meal with Roby's family and then the kids played with sparklers when the sun went down.

Summer Reading Program

Caden and Kinsie have been participating in the summer reading program at the Waukee Public Library. On Tuesdays they attend story time where they listen to books, sing songs and make a craft. They also have BINGO sheets that they fill out each week for how much time they spend reading, playing outside, etc. When they get a BINGO they are rewarded with a special prize, which they love! In addition to the projects shown in the pictures, they have also made a sea turtle and a beaver puppet.
